FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Republic to Move Corporate Headquarters to Canton
FAIRLAWN, Ohio (March 16, 2009) – Republic Engineered Products, Inc., North America’s leading producer of special bar quality (SBQ) steel, today announced it is moving its corporate headquarters from Fairlawn to its manufacturing operation in Canton.
Company officials anticipate the move, which is expected to be completed by the end of March, will result in operational and manufacturing benefits and enhancements in customer service.
Republic's corporate headquarters, previously at 3770 Embassy Parkway, Fairlawn, will now be located at 2633 Eighth Street N.E., Canton.
"The move of our corporate office makes sense at this time," said Jaime Vigil, Republic’s president and chief executive officer. "We recently decentralized, moving about one third of our corporate staff to our Canton, Lorain, and Massillon operations. We believe being close to our plants gets us more in touch with operations and makes decision making a more efficient process, resulting in better customer satisfaction and less waste."
In January, Republic announced its Cold Finished Division headquarters had been moved to the company’s manufacturing operation in Massillon. At that time, several key employees of the Hot Rolled Division also moved to various manufacturing operations.
"We have been aggressive in terms of doing what is needed to keep Republic a strong, fiscally sound organization," Vigil said. “While we are optimistic that we will see business in our key markets pick up in the near-term, we are proactively making decisions today that will ensure our long-term success. Our flexibility allows us to adapt to the economic downturn and make this move, which is consistent with market demands."
Republic Engineered Products, Inc., is North America’s leading supplier of special bar quality (SBQ) steel, a highly engineered product used in axles, drive trains, suspensions and other critical components of automobiles, off-highway vehicles and industrial equipment.
